A compact river city where neighborhoods meet a regional crossroads
The story of Riverdale
Riverdale sits in a bend of the Weber River between Ogden, South Ogden, Roy, and Hill Air Force Base. It combines established residential streets, parks and river access, and one of northern Utah’s busiest retail corridors within a compact city.
The community began as homes and farms along the Weber River. The river supplied the name and influenced where people lived, worked, and crossed the valley.
Riverdale incorporated in 1946 as wartime and postwar growth reshaped communities around Hill Air Force Base. Residential neighborhoods filled in while the city remained closely connected to surrounding employment centers.
Riverdale Road later developed into a major commercial corridor serving shoppers from across Weber and Davis counties. The city’s identity now rests on the contrast between that regional destination and quieter neighborhoods, parks, and the river corridor nearby.

What shapes the community today
Riverdale Road makes the city a countywide shopping and dining destination, but Riverdale is more than its commercial strip. The Weber River Parkway, city parks, schools, mature neighborhoods, and immediate access to Hill Air Force Base and Interstate 15 shape everyday life.
