A fast-growing river city built from Kanesville and Wilson
The story of West Haven
West Haven spreads west from the Weber River across former farm ground, established rural neighborhoods, new subdivisions, and employment districts. It is one of Weber County’s fastest-growing cities, but its modern boundaries still carry the identities of the older Kanesville and Wilson communities.
Farms, irrigation, and scattered rural settlement shaped the area west of Ogden for generations. Kanesville and Wilson developed as neighboring communities with their own local identities rather than as one traditional town center.
Residents joined the two communities to create West Haven in 1991. The new city inherited an agricultural landscape at the same moment growth from the Ogden urban area was moving west.
Since incorporation, new housing and industrial development have changed the city rapidly. Remaining fields, the Weber River corridor, older roads, and the separate Kanesville and Wilson names still reveal the landscape beneath that growth.

What shapes the community today
West Haven is simultaneously residential, agricultural, and industrial. Country Park, the Weber River Parkway, neighborhood trails, schools, warehouses, and active construction all belong to the same city. Its central challenge is connecting those pieces as population growth continues.
